FACT: Having a sense of accomplishment means that we have worked towards and reached our goals, achieved mastery over an endeavour, and had the self-motivation to complete what we set out to do. Accomplishment contributes to our wellbeing when we are able to look back on our lives with a sense of achievement and say, ‘I did it, and I did it well’ (Seligman, 2012).
Celebrating success is an important factor in creating a positive and supportive environment. In the busy lives of a workplace we don’t take enough time to celebrate the great things that are happening with ourselves and the young people we work with.
So, here’s some ideas to celebrate all the successes you have…
- Class/Group Treasure Chests: The treasure chest is somewhere to store your successes and happy memories. It might be a photo album of snaps of fun activities, great pieces of work, or momentos from an achievement you are proud of!
